About Aberdeen
“She is a true ambassador for ladies golf in Scotland and we at Aberdeen are proud of the fact that we are now able to support even more areas of the game”
We’ve been sponsoring Mhairi McKay since 2006, and she’s been going from strength to strength. She returned from the US to play in the Aberdeen-sponsored Ladies Scottish Open in 2010 and will do so again in 2011.
Mhairi was the first woman golfer we sponsored. Our logo can be seen on her clothes when she competes in the Ladies European Tour (LET) and Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA).
Mhairi was the first overseas player to be offered a golf scholarship at Stanford University in California where she was a classmate of Tiger Woods. She turned professional after graduation and qualified for the LPGA Tour at her first attempt.
She grew up in Girvan near the famous Turnberry golf links in Scotland where she learnt to play and is still a club member.
Mhairi has a son named Angus and lives in new Mexico, USA with her husband.
