Our long standing title sponsorship of the Ladies Scottish Open since 2008 demonstrates our strong commitment to Ladies golf. Occupying the week before the Women’s British Open ensures the event is an important part of a golden month of British golf each July, and in November 2016, it was announced that the Ladies Scottish Open is to become a co-sanctioned event between the Ladies European Tour and the LPGA, from 2017 onwards.
With a full 156-strong player field, a prize fund of US$1.5m and played on the same course as the men’s Scottish Open, the enhanced 72-hole Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open sits on both the LET and LPGA schedules and underlines Scotland’s commitment to growing women’s golf as it looks towards hosting The 2019 Solheim Cup at Gleneagles. It also draws on the strong support of Aberdeen Standard Investments across all levels of the game, giving equal prominence to both men and women whilst helping to ensure live footage from both the men’s and ladies Scottish Open’s is beamed to golf fans around the globe.
In 2017, the Ladies Scottish Open was played at Dundonald Links and attracted 15 of the world’s top 30 players, was won by Korean Mi Hyang Lee. Previous winners include Isabelle Boineau (Dundonald Links, 2016), Rebecca Artis (Dundonald Links, 2015), Trish Johnson (Archerfield Links, 2014) and Aberdeen ambassador, Catriona Matthew (Archerfield Links, 2013).
Taking place the week before the Ricoh Women’s British Open, the back-to-back stretch of events echoes the successful strategy employed by the men’s Scottish Open taking place the week before The Open – an approach proven to be a competitive advantage for those players competing in both championships. The 2018 Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open will take place at Gullane Golf Club from 26-29 July.
